Why You Will Love This Recipe

Real Ingredients: I love starting with real milk, and you can also use whatever milk you prefer.

Quick and Easy: This recipe is a breeze to make, requiring only a few minutes of hands-on time. The hardest part is waiting for them to freeze!

Delicious: These fudgesicles offer a tasty way to sneak in a little milk while satisfying your little one's sweet tooth.

    Ingredients Needed

Ingredients: milk and instant pudding mix.

How to Make These Homemade Fudgesicles

*** Be sure to read the recipe card below for the full ingredient list and instructions. ***

Using a box of instant pudding makes this so easy!

Place milk and the dry pudding mix into a bowl and whisk together for at least two minutes.

πŸ’Note: the recipe uses more milk than the directions on the box.

Once the dry mix is dissolved, fill the popsicle molds.

Silicone molds filled with fudgesicle mixture.

The process to fill is a little dependent on your style of mold, but it is usually easiest to use a measuring cup to scoop up the liquid and pour it into the mold. These new molds I have and love are made of silicone, which makes the pops so easy to remove once frozen!

Just remember to add the sticks! LOL

I like to place the molds on a baking tray before filling and then place the whole tray in the freezer to set for several hours or overnight.

Once frozen, simply remove the pops and enjoy!

    Serving Suggestions

You can serve these homemade fudgesicles as an after-school treat, a refreshing dessert on hot summer days, or even at birthday parties.

Kids will love them, and adults won't be able to resist joining in on the fun!

    Variations: Dairy-Free or Sugar-Free

I tried a couple different milks to have some options. Ultimately I decided that dairy milk does produce the best fudgesicle, but if you need a dairy-free option, feel free to substitute with your milk of choice.

Almond milk was my least favorite, as the texture of the pop was quite "icy". I also tried full fat coconut milk which made a very creamy texture that I enjoyed. I haven't tried oat milk yet, but I think it would give a good balance of flavor and texture.

I also tried sugar-free pudding vs. regular. Again, the texture is not quite as good when using the sugar-free mix. However, it was worth it for me to be able to enjoy this treat myself without the sugar guilt. πŸ˜€

I tried the "chocolate fudge" flavor pudding and it was quite similar to regular chocolate. I think I'd give a slight preference to the regular flavor, but wouldn't hesitate to buy chocolate fudge if that's all they had available at the store.

As you can see, it's easy to make these your own!

    Storage

Store the fudgesicles in the freezer until ready to serve.

If you need to empty the molds to make a new batch, you can remove the pops and individually wrap in plastic wrap.

I like to then place the wrapped pops in a zip-top bag, then put them back in the freezer.

    Recipe FAQs

Can I use low-fat milk for this recipe?

Fat content helps to give the fudgesicles the creamy texture we all love. I feel whole milk gives the best results, but 2% milk could also be sued.

Can I make these without popsicle molds?

Absolutely! You can pour the mixture into small paper "Dixie" cups and insert popsicle sticks in the center. Peel off the paper cups before serving.

Can I reduce the sugar in the recipe?

Yes, see the variation section - just use sugar-free pudding mix.

    Ingredients

    • 2 β…” cups milk*
    • 1 small box instant pudding chocolate (3.9 oz or 1.4 oz if sugar-free)

    Instructions

    • In a mixing bowl, combine the dry pudding mix with milk. Whisk or stir together at least 2 minutes. Pudding mix should be dissolved and the pudding with start to thicken slightly.
    • Fill popsicle molds with the pudding mixture. Insert sticks and cover as needed. Place in freezer 8 hours/overnight.
    • Once frozen, your fudgesicles are ready to be removed from the molds and enjoyed!

    Notes

*Dairy milk seems to give the best results, but dairy-free milk can be used as desired. Almond milk yields a very icy texture, whereas full fat coconut milk makes a very creamy fudgesicle.
Either chocolate or chocolate fudge flavor pudding works. I like them both!

Homemade fudgesicles are so much better for my kids and we all thought they tasted better than the store bought kind we've been using, too! Thanks for sharing.
