Why You’ll Love This Recipe
This Cranberry Rum Slush is a game-changer for your cocktail line up. It offers a burst of fruity freshness with the signature tartness of cranberries. And its slushy consistency topped with carbonated soda provides a unique texture that sets it apart from traditional cocktails.
Most important, it's incredibly easy to prepare, because you make up a batch and freeze it to scoop as needed. No blender needed! It’s good in the freezer for up to 3 months, but it really won’t last that long. 😁🍹

How to Make this Frozen Cranberry Slush
This recipe is a variation on my frozen daiquiri slush, a recipe I’ve had since my college days. 😀
All you do is mix a can of frozen limeade(thawed, or it will thaw when you mix it) with cranberry juice and rum. The quantities are quite forgiving, so you can make it a little stronger if you’d like.
The original recipe also used the limeade can itself to measure. So once you pour the limeade concentrate into your freezer-safe container, measure out 2 cans of cranberry juice and ½ a can of rum. This is the same amount as 3 cups of juice and ¾ cup of rum, since the can holds 1½ cups.
Just stir these together to get everything well mixed. Then cover and freeze, preferably overnight.
The next day, the mix will be frozen but not solid. It will be a slushee texture, very easy to scoop out of the container and into your glass.
I like to fill the glasses at least half full, and then top with something fizzy. Lemon-lime soda is the classic choice, but I’ve also tried some cranberry flavored sparkling water with great success. You can go where your taste buds take you.
Substitutions and Variations
You have plenty of leeway with how you top the slush. I like something sparkling, as I feel like it gives the drink a more festive vibe. But if you want a stronger cranberry taste, feel free to top with cranberry juice.
You can also add a little more rum when making the drinks, for those who want something a little “stiffer”. It’s not super strong as-is, which gives you a lot of flexibility when you get to the scooping step.
Frequently Asked Questions
To reduce the sugar, I’ve used diet lemon-lime soda when topping and sometimes flavored sparkling water. I’m going to make my next batch with diet cranberry juice to reduce the sugar even more. I’m confident I’ll still love it. ❤️
