When the summer heat is draining your energy, you need a refreshing and citrus-y drink to revive your spirit. This frozen daiquiri slush is what you crave!

Light and sweet, limeade and rum make a perfect combination. This is a slushie that you mix up and place in the freezer. In about 8 hours (or overnight) you’ll have the perfect adult slushie, ready to scoop whenever you need it!

You’ll want to keep a batch on hand all summer!

Why you will love this Frozen Daiquiri Recipe

Let’s start with the all-important word: easy. Just mix 3 ingredients (plus water) in a freezer-safe container. Cover and freeze overnight, and by the next day your slush is ready to scoop.

You’ll also love the taste. It’s light and sweet, with just enough citrus-y lime to help quench your thirst. Its velvety texture and frosty chill make it a perfect choice for those hot summer days.

It does contain rum but it’s not very strong. It gives you the flexibility to adjust at serving time if desired. 😀

    Frozen Daiquiri ingredients

Ingredients: lemon lime soda, limeade concentrate, and white rum.

What type of rum is best for this frozen daiquiri?

I’ve used regular white rum and also lime-flavored rum, both are excellent. I’d like to try coconut rum, that might be my next batch. Feel free to experiment with whatever flavor you have on hand!

    How to make Frozen Daiquiris

This recipe dates back to my college days, and in fact the recipe card I have for it is written in my roommate’s handwriting. It’s about as easy as it gets!

Start with a can of frozen limeade concentrate. Empty the contents into a freezer-safe container. I use plastic Ziploc containers which work perfectly.

Hang on to that empty limeade can and use it to measure the other ingredients. (One less thing to wash!)

Measuring the soda in the empty concentrate can.

Add one can of water and one can of lemon-lime soda. I’ve used 7-Up and Sprite, both regular and sugar-free versions with success.

The last ingredient is ½ a can of rum. Regular white rum works just fine here.

    Stirring the liquids.

Stir everything together to mix, then cover. Place in the freezer for about 8 hours or overnight.

The mixture will freeze into crystals, but not solid. The alcohol prevents it from fully freezing into an ice block. Instead, the mix is easy to remove with a spoon or ice cream scoop.

Scooping the frozen daiquiri slush with an ice cream scoop.

Scoop your slush into a glass, at least half full. Then top with more lemon-lime soda and serve!

Adding soda to the frozen daiquiri slush in the glass to be served.

    Serving Suggestions and Storage

This slush is a crowd-pleaser for sure! Or you can just enjoy it on a lazy afternoon hanging out on the deck.

It keeps for a few months in the freezer, so you can have it on hand for whenever a slushie emergency might strike!

    Frozen Daiquiris FAQs

What's the ideal glass for serving a Frozen Daiquiri Slush?

As you can see in my pictures, I’ve used a lowball/rocks glass, as well as a stemmed cocktail glass which is a really fun way to serve it. Makes me feel all "fancy" LOL.
But, since this recipe originated in college, I think I need to show how we actually served it back then. Yep, red Solo cup, in all its glory. It’s just as delicious, no matter what glass you use!Frozen daiquiri slush served in 2 red solo cups.

How much alcohol is in a frozen daiquiri?

This recipe only uses 6 ounces of rum. If you ultimately make 8 drinks, that means each drink, on average, will have less than one ounce of rum in it. Which makes it a rather weak cocktail, when you think about it. Keep in mind that the alcohol does not distribute perfectly in a frozen mixture, so some scoops may be slightly stronger than others.

    Are daiquiris frozen?

The traditional daiquiri was a shaken cocktail, but over time, bartenders started blending the daiquiris with ice to make a frozen version. Frozen daiquiris are now a fun and casual twist, perfect for summer gatherings!

More Refreshing Ways to Beat the Heat

When you need to cool down, try some prickly pear lemonade. It’s gorgeous color and sweet taste will satisfy! And you could use it to make a pink gin and lemonade for a new twist on a favorite!

I finished it far quicker than I meant to!!
I have some cute glasses that I got bought for my birthday that look like lemons with the tops cut off, so we drank it from those....I think they are bigger than a normal glass as it went down very quickly 😂
