    Shamrock Martini

St Patrick's Day is one of those fun holidays for everyone. For years I have scoured my family history to try to find any trace of Irish ancestry, but always fail.

    Not a drop, anywhere.

But as they say, we are all a little bit Irish on St Patrick's Day.

Does this mean we must drink green beer? I wanted an alternative.

So to honor my almost-heritage a Shamrock Martini is clearly needed!!

green cocktail in a martini glass - AKA shamrock martini.

    What goes into this martini?

This blog is no stranger to green drinks. Consider the Midori sour, Baby Yoda drink and Grinch cocktail. All green, all using Midori liqueur.

And Irish? You can always drink some Irish Cream, like in my Baileys and Eggnog martini.

But this time I wanted green, and a deeper green than the melon flavored Midori drinks. And instead of using a green liqueur I used a color wheel. Blue plus yellow makes green, correct?

Well, actually the yellow is orange, in the form of orange juice.

The extra depth in the orange juice color doesn't seem to be a problem in the final cocktail's shade of green.

    Ingredients

The ingredients needed are Malibu Rum and Cointreau (both clear) and Blue Curacao with orange juice.

ingredients: curacao, Cointreau, rum and orange juice

Mix them up with ice in a cocktail shaker and voila - you have a lovely green cocktail.

Pour the green drink into a martini glass and add an orange garnish.

    Simple, delicious and fun. 😃

As you enjoy this lovely green martini, make a toast: "May your day be touched by a bit of Irish luck, brightened by a song in your heart and warmed by the smiles of the people you love. "

    More St. Patrick's Day recipes:

I recently got an air fryer lid for my Instant Pot and once I made frozen waffle fries in the air fryer, the next logical step was Irish Nachos. They're not really Irish of course (but then again, neither am I) but they are really and truly delicious!

Looking for another appetizer type recipe? Try some Reuben Dip. It's probably the best use for corned beef yet!

This is delicious and I love the color after adding the orange juice. You are right, perfect for St. Patrick's Day. Of course, I had to try it before the holiday to make sure it was good. This one will be on the table on the 17th!
