Spring and summer are the perfect seasons for fresh and vibrant salads that are loaded with colorful fruits and vegetables. One of my favorite salads during this time of the year is the Strawberry and Blueberry Spinach Salad.
This salad is not only delicious and refreshing, but it is also packed with nutrients that are essential for a healthy diet.
When a salad is easy to make, with a short ingredient list, it becomes a must-have for your healthy lifestyle!

Why You Will Love This Salad
There are many reasons to love this recipe. To start, it is incredibly easy to make, and it requires only a few basic ingredients that are readily available at any grocery store.
It's a perfect combination of sweet and savory flavors, which makes it a crowd-pleaser. But let's be honest, you might not want to share LOL.
This is a healthy salad that is low in calories and high in vitamins and minerals. And so easy to customize to suit your individual preferences.
Ingredients
How to Make This Strawberry and Blueberry Spinach Salad
The beauty of a salad is its simplicity. No cooking required, all the ingredients are raw! So it is important to use the highest quality ingredients you can find.
You simply need to wash everything thoroughly and assemble.
One thing I wanted to mention is how much I like a salad spinner for this. For years, I thought this was a silly item to have in the kitchen. Until I got one.
Now I just love it! Its the very best way to rinse off your greens and then get all the excess moisture off before putting the salad together.
Rinse the berries and slice the strawberries. If you have an egg slicer, try using that for the strawberries to get perfectly even slices.
Feta cheese can be purchased already crumbled, but it is usually drier that way. I prefer buying a block and breaking off what I need with a fork. It ensures a more creamy feta cheese in my salad.
I buy sliced almonds in the baking nuts section of the grocery store, but you can also slice whole almonds with a really sharp knife.
Once the ingredients are prepped you simply need to put the salad together.

Place the ingredients in a bowl and toss to combine. Hold off adding dressing until its time to serve.
Dressing This Salad
This is the kind of salad you make when berries are in season, so it makes sense to have a dressing made from more fresh berries. I specifically made strawberry balsamic vinaigrette to dress this salad.
However, I think any balsamic flavored salad dressing would work, like a classic balsamic vinaigrette. Or, try making a raspberry vinaigrette to really round out the fresh berry experience!
You can go ahead and add about ¼ cup of salad dressing to the bowl and toss it all to coat really well. Or, just serve the salad with the dressing on the side for people to add as little or as much as they prefer.
Serving Suggestions
This salad can be served as a side dish or a main course. It pairs well with grilled chicken, fish, or shrimp. You can also add some sliced avocado or grilled vegetables to make it more filling.
Substitutions and Variations
If you don't like feta cheese, you can use goat cheese or blue cheese instead. You can also substitute the almonds with pecans or walnuts.
To make this salad vegan, omit the cheese and use a vegan-friendly dressing.
Expert Tips
Wash and dry the spinach leaves thoroughly to remove any dirt or debris. This is where a salad spinner becomes your best friend. 😀
Use fresh, ripe, organic berries for the best flavor. When strawberries are in season, they are in a class of their own!
If desired, you can toast the almonds for a few minutes in a dry skillet to bring out their flavor.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, you can prepare and mix the salad ahead of time and store it covered in the refrigerator. Add the dressing just before serving.
Absolutely, you can use any type of lettuce or greens that you prefer. I've made this salad with chopped romaine and also with mixed greens and loved it every time.

This was the perfect salad for serving with our grilled steak last night.
I LOVE fresh berries so much and so do my kids, so they were happy to take a big spoonful of salad with dinner. Happy Mum!!
The feta cheese was perfect with the sweet berries.
I didn't dress the salad but instead popped a couple of dressing on the table so people could pick. We had a black pepper dressing and a tangy lemon dressing. Both were yum. i preferred the pepper the kids preferred the lemon.
