How to Make Turkey Roll-Ups with Stuffing
First, we fortify the gravy a little. I've tried making these rollups with homemade gravy as well as canned/jarred, and always feel like the gravy alone seems to disappear in the pan when you bake it. Adding cheese gives the gravy a little more structure. Plus, it's cheese. 😁😋
Just heat the gravy in a saucepan and add the shredded cheese. Heat and stir to melt the cheese.
Now, form the roll ups. Portion out about ¼ cup of the prepared stuffing onto a slice of turkey, and then form the stuffing into a log shape so it evenly covers the width of the slice.
Roll the meat around the stuffing to form a roll.
Place the roll in a greased pan and repeat with the remaining turkey and stuffing to form 8 roll ups in total.
Pour about one cup, or half, of the prepared gravy over the roll ups, then cover the pan with foil.
Bake the roll ups for 30 minutes, until warmed through and bubbly.
Serve with the remaining gravy and your choice of sides.
Serving Suggestions
Pair these turkey roll-ups with a side of cranberry sauce for a classic Thanksgiving vibe. Alternatively, serve them over a bed of greens for a lighter, refreshing twist.
You can also include some roasted vegetables or mashed potatoes to complete the meal.
Substitutions and Variations
Feel free to customize this recipe based on your preferences or dietary restrictions. Try different stuffing variations, such as cornbread stuffing with eggs. For a healthier option, opt for lean turkey slices and whole-grain stuffing.
If you're feeling adventurous, add a layer of thinly sliced cheese before rolling up the turkey for an extra burst of flavor. Because there's no such thing as too much cheese!
Storage
If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat in the oven or microwave for a quick and satisfying meal.
