During the holiday season, I always want to try at least one new cocktail with seasonal flavors. And this martini, with chocolate and peppermint, is a perfect example!
By combining chocolate liqueur and peppermint schnapps, you feel like you’re having a cookie, only in liquid form. There’s also dairy in the drink, so the “dunking the cookie in milk” part is also satisfied!
This martini makes a lovely dessert drink, delivering chocolatey taste with minty notes. But you don’t have to wait for dessert! You can have it any time you feel like it! 😀
Why I Love this Recipe
Simple and delicious. Need I say more?
This cocktail is a marvelous way to get your chocolate-peppermint fix in liquid form. When you combine chocolate and peppermint with half and half, the delicate flavor will remind you of a Thin Mint cookie. Which is my all-time favorite Girl Scout cookie!
Give it a try, it could easily become a new holiday tradition!

How to Make this Chocolate Peppermint Martini
Cocktails are easy, you mix em up and pour in a glass, right?
But if you want to “decorate” the glass, you’ll want to do that first.
Drizzle a little chocolate syrup into the martini glass. Then, stick the glass in the freezer for at least 5 minutes to help set that chocolate in place. This prevents it from simply dissolving into the liquid when you pour in.
Then, place ice in a cocktail shaker, add the ingredients, and shake away! Strain into the prepared glass and garnish as desired.
A candy cane is a nice touch, or whatever suits your fancy. But really, the drink is perfectly fine without any additional garnish at all.
Ok, yes, it's the holidays. So lets be a little extra, right? Add a little whipped cream and some crushed candy canes for a final decorative touch.
I crushed the bottom section of the candy cane to make the garnish and then added the top "hook" into the glass to complete the look.
SULA’S TIPS
Consider measuring your ingredients (without ice) into the cocktail shaker and placing that in the fridge or freezer while the glass is chilling. Your drink will be nice and cold with less dilution from the ice.
I’ve tried using plant-based milks (oat and almond) to substitute for the half and half, but I feel like the peppermint taste is very strong with these. So maybe use only half the schnapps if you want to use one of these milks. Also, most chocolate liqueurs do contain dairy, so shop carefully if you are trying to make a completely dairy-free version.
I haven’t tried using regular milk yet, but it’s on my list. All in the interest of research, of course. 😃
