    Kool-Aid Pie (3 Ways!)

The weather is warming up and that means we need another no-bake pie for summertime enjoyment! I crave sweet goodness but don't want to heat up the kitchen with elaborate baked goods. Enter: Kool-Aid Pie. Only four ingredients, 15 minutes and some time in the fridge.

    Kool-Aid memories

My childhood summers involved a lot of time outside, a lot of it riding a bike with my friends. My trusty little dog, Esmerelda, would sometimes ride along in the basket on the handlebars. Eventually, we'd get hot, tired and thirsty. A sweet drink was in order. We'd stop at the closest friend's house and have some Kool-Aid. Everyone's mom had a pitcher in the fridge. Then, more biking. Where to? No clue.

Now that I have aged, er, evolved, my tastes have evolved, too. So fond of this Kool-Aid Pie! A different way to enjoy Kool-Aid. And no skinned knees…

    Kool-Aid Pie Recipe Ingredients

    • Kool-Aid drink mix
    • Whipped topping
    • Sweetened condensed milk
    • Graham cracker crust

How to make Kool Aid Pie

    So easy!

    1. Mix sweetened condensed milk with a packet of unsweetened Kool-Aid.
stirring light blue green colored ingredients in a bowl
whipped topping being folded in to the ingredients in a bowl
    1. Then fold in whipped topping (Cool Whip or similar).
    1. Pour into a graham cracker crust. Done!
    2. Refrigerate for a few hours to set. Slice and serve.
    1. Optional: decorate with some whipped cream for additional yumminess.

Are you an overachiever? Then, make your own crust! See below for crust ideas. Pre-made or homemade crust, this totally counts as a homemade pie.

I'll email this post to you, so you can easily come back to it later!

Of course! There are LOTS of Kool-Aid flavors (21 varieties, according to Koolaid.com), so let your imagination run wild! So far, we have tried cherry, black cherry and blue raspberry lemonade (fun blue color!!). I don't think you can miss with other flavors. Strawberry, mixed berry, orange. Actually, an orange version might be similar to my Creamsicle Pie. Must try next!!

Are there any alternatives to Kool-Aid?

Yes, if you don't have any Kool-Aid or can't find the flavor you want, try using a small package of unsweetened Jell-O. That should open up a whole 'nother world of flavor possibilities 😀. I found a recipe for Jello Pudding 3 layer pie at "When is Dinner" that also makes a great no-bake pie!

    Crust choices

The obvious choice here is a purchased graham cracker crust. In the spirit of no-bake and no-fuss, this wins, hands down. On the other hand, a completely homemade version is not that difficult. Here are some ideas:

    • Graham cracker crust: Crush 8 full-size graham crackers to make fine crumbs. Melt a half stick (4 tablespoons) butter and mix with crumbs. Press firmly into the pie plate to make a crust. Place in freezer to set and cool while mixing the filling. (Option: bake for 5-8 minutes at 350F before cooling in freezer. The crust will hold together better, but technically, you'll no longer have a no-bake pie. Your choice.)
    • Oreo crust: Crush 24-25 Oreo cookies (I used Double Stuf because - YES!) to make crumbs. Melt a half stick (4 tablespoons) butter and mix with the crumbs. Press crumbs firmly into pie plate to make a crust. Place in freezer to set and cool while mixing the filling. (Option: bake for 5-8 minutes at 350F before cooling in freezer. The crust will hold together better. Alas, technically you'll no longer have a no-bake pie. Your choice.)

    Kool-Aid Pie 3 Ways

As you can probably tell, there are more than three ways to make this pie. Many more. You can mix and match your favorite flavors and crusts as desired. Here are the combinations I want to highlight:

blue raspberry koolaid pie on a plate with rest of pie behind
Blue Raspberry Lemonade with (homemade) graham cracker crust
slice of cherry koolaid pie on a small plate
Cherry with (purchased) graham cracker crust
slice of black cherry koolaid pie
    Black Cherry with Oreo crust

    How to store Kool-Aid Pie

If you want a creamy pie, keep it in the fridge. If your taste buds run to ice cream or popsicle treats, this freezes quite well and produces a unique taste treat. Either way it works.

I hope you give your own version of Kool-Aid Pie a try. Let me know how you like it!
